Skyride - Cycle Traffic Free Manchester on 15th July
Manchester Sky Ride is taking place on Sunday 15th July 10-4pm. It's a great day out with a range of fun activities taking place in City Square (Sportcity) including Go-Ride cycling, skate-boarding, tennis, squash and athletics tasters, amazing flat land BMX displays and more! LGF Albert Kennedy Trust Youth Almighty Project
The Lesbian & Gay Foundation and The Albert Kennedy Trust have recently launched the Youth Almighty project, an initiative to provide support and opportunities for LGBT people aged between 14 and 18 living in Manchester.
We now need young people and their friends to get involved in shaping the project, by coming along to our workshop on Saturday 23rd June between 12-4pm at The Albert Kennedy Trust, 5 Oak Street, Northern Quarter, Manchester M4 5JD. It’ll be a great chance to meet new people, be part of an exciting new project which will benefit young LGBT people across Manchester and we’ll be providing lunch from Pizza Express and can reimburse travel costs. Books to Go - Library Delivery Service
Books to Go
Books to Go provides a home delivery service for Manchester residents. If you have limited mobility, a visual impairment or any difficulty leaving your home, you are invited to apply to become a Books to Go customer.
How does it work?
When you join our service you will be asked to give us an idea of what you like to read and our experienced staff will choose books for you according to your preferences.
Is there a charge?
No, the service is completely free.
How often will I receive a delivery?
You will receive a delivery every four weeks.
What can I borrow?
Our central store of over 30,000 items of stock means that we are bound to have what you like to read. We have books in both ordinary and large-print size, talking books and DVDs.
How many items can I borrow?
You can borrow up to 15 items every 4 weeks.
How can I apply for Books to Go?
You can complete the form on the website, e-mail the Books to Go team at mobilelibraries@manchester.gov.uk, or call 0161 227 3800. Alternatively you can call your local library who will be able to fill out a form for you over the phone.

Free Cancer Screening Awareness Training - Friday 22nd June

What you need to know about Cancer Screening
The target audience who may be interested in attending this course are GP staff including practice managers and receptionists and those working in health & social care through the local authority or third sector, as well as community ambassadors’ and volunteers.
This half day course is due to take place on Friday 22nd June 2012 –
1.00pm – 4.30pm at Victoria Mill Training Room, Miles Platting.
The course aims:
To enable participants to raise awareness and signpost into services
To look at Bowel, Breast & Cervical cancer screening programmes provided across the city and to explore reasons for low uptake in Manchester
To look at rates of cancer in Manchester, signs, symptoms and theimportance of early detection.
To provide you with information about various treatment options and how screening programmes operate.

Social Cafe June July 2012 Miles Platting
The Social Cafe at Church of the Apostles runs every Friday morning in term time from 10 - 11.30am. The cafe sells tea, toast, coffee and crumpets. Zest provide free health activities such as pampering, dancing, armchair exercise, tai-chi and crafts.

Food and Hygiene qualification
The above courses is a blended programme which
a Numeracy qualification.

Are you unemployed?
Not attending any other form of training or education?
Have a National Insurance Number?
If you can answer yes to all questions above you are
eligible!
Will attending this programme affect my benefits?
The programme at Awaaz Learning Centre will not affect your current benefits
Will the course cost me anything?
There is no cost to you for the course.
